Selhurst and South Norwood have remained in the 5 most deprived wards when comparing the 2004 index and 2010 index.
2010 data shows that all wards have become more deprived when compared to the 2004 index with the exception of Coulsdon East, Sanderstead, Kenley and Croham which have remained unchanged and and Broad Green which shows and improvement.
The 2010 index shows Selhurst is the most deprived ward in terms of the living environment domain, but its relative position has improved when compared to the 2007 index.

This domain measures the quality of individuals? immediate surroundings both within and outside the home. The indicators fall into two sub-domains: the ?indoors? living environment, which measures the quality of housing, and the ?outdoors? living environment which contains two measures relating to air quality and road traffic accidents. Four indicators are combined to calculate this domain:
- Sub-domain: The indoors living environment
- Social and private housing in poor condition
- Houses without central heating - Sub-domain: The outdoors living environment
- Air quality
- Road traffic accidents.
